I am lucky that I could enjoy the festivities both in Kolkata and Dhaka. Durga Puja brings one of the best times in my life, just like any Bengali. I am returning Dhaka with gurer naru for my relatives and close friends which I have treasured from Kolkata. I was also a part of a pujs porikroma and it was an amazing experience to visit those beautiful pandals and getting to see the crafts in every pandal,” an excited Jaya shared.
When asked about the electrifying Kolkata atmosphere during Durga Puja and what she likes the most here the Bangladeshi actress promptly answers, “I simply burst into joy to see so much colour and the festive joy among people. Kolkata during this festive season looks magical and the atmosphere instantly lifts your mood. I still recall the pandal-hopping memories during my childhood days. We used to count how many pandals we visited and later I would compare with friends whether I beat their numbers. These are some special memories which will always be etched in my heart.”
Pujo is incomplete without shopping and Jaya is equally excited to share what she bought this year, “I bought two Kanchipuram Silk sarees – one is wine coloured and the other one is white with shades of different colours. Then there is Muga Silk and Smart Muga Blouse, Dhakai saree. I have also bought coastal red and dusty pink coloured saree. So, yes it is all about saree this year.”

Durga Puja is also synonymous with feasting with close ones. Not just pandal hopping and catching up with friends over hours of ‘adda’, we all enjoy a sumptuous repast. “Pujo celebration is incomplete without pet pujo. I had bhog, sweets and obviously roadside fast food. No tension of diet now. I will worry about it after it’s all over,” added the actress whose latest ‘Beauty Circus’ released in theatres in Bangladesh on September 23.
