Actor Joyjit Banerjee directs his father for a lockdown short film

On Sunday, Joyjit Banerjee decided to wield the megaphone for a short film that is yet to be titled. The actor hit upon the idea of making a film during the lockdown and interestingly, his father is also part of the cast. “We shot at Rishra, maintaining all shooting norms directed by the government. We were a team of 15 people and social distancing was maintained strictly.This short film revolves around a security guard, played by my father. The film has no dialogues but the editing and soundscape will play a vital role in it. Abhijit Nandy was the man behind the camera, while the story and screenplay were penned by me. The film depicts how we sometimes fail to understand life and have no option but to accept the changes in order to survive," said Joyjit.
The film is shot entirely in black and white. Joyjit added, “I wanted to cast an actor with a theatre background, instead of a known face in this short film. So after penning the script, I shared the concept with my father. After going through it, he liked the story and was on board. After the post-production, I want to see how much I have succeeded in executing what I thought of originally. If not, we have to shoot again.”
