An excited Rahul Banerjee is awaiting the release of his next ‘Rajlokkhi O Srikanta’

In Pradipta Bhattacharya’s ‘Rajlokkhi O Srikanta’ Ritwick Chakraborty is playing the iconic character Srikanta and after receiving rave reviews for his stellar performance as Ajit in ‘Byomkesh Gowtro’, Rahul Banerjee will portray the role of Hukumchand, Srikanta’s close friend. Interestingly, in Saratchandra Chattopadhyay’s original novel this character had a very little presence but in Pradipta’s screen adaptation he has a bigger role to play and Rahul is quite excited to play such a challenging role.
While sharing more details about the film the versatile actor said: “Ritwick is playing Srikanta and I am Hukumchand in this film. For me, it’s one of the best films in recent times. Pradipta Bhattacharya has directed the film and we all know his film ‘Bakita Bektigato’ had won national award once. No words needed to say Ritwick’s acting brilliance. Bangladeshi actress Jyotika Jyoti who is playing Rajlokkhi has also done a great job. RJ Sayan is playing Srikanta’s guru Indranath. Another Iconic character in the story is Annoda di. Ritwick’s wife Aparajita Ghosh Das essays this key role. We are waiting for a suitable release date and the entire team has a high hope for ‘Rajlokkhi O Srikanta’. We are looking for a release date in December-January.”
We all have seen a number of films based on this particular story from the novel ‘Srikanta’, including ‘Rajlakshmi O Srikanta’ (1958), ‘Indranath Srikanta-o-Annadadidi’ (1959) and lastly ‘Iti Srikanta’ (2004). So, it will be interesting to see whether Pradipta Bhattacharya can offer something new from this classic literary work.
