Anik Dutta shares what's unique in ‘Bhobishyoter Bhoot’
His last two films ‘Ashchorjyo Prodeep’, a dark satire, and ‘Meghnadbodh Rohoshyo’, a thriller respectively, didn’t enjoy a great box office outing. So, like his first film ‘Bhooter Bhobishyot’, Anik Dutta went back to the ghost world. However, it drew a lot of attention since the director had to face legal notice from a big production house as there were rumours ‘Bhobishyoter Bhoot’ is a sequel to ‘Bhooter Bhobishyot’ and Anik Dutta has no legal rights to make the sequel.

In response, He has already made it clear that it’s not a sequel.
But, why he fall back to the ghosts once again? Is it just hoping for another hit like ‘Bhooter Bhobishyot’? Anik Dutta doesn’t think so. Being an ad filmmaker in his early career he knows the pulse of the audience and loves to make films accordingly.
“If I wanted to exploit the success of ‘Bhooter Bhabishyat’ I would have done it in my second film. But you all know ‘Ashchorjyo Prodeep’ was made as a dark satire with a bitter ending and my last one ‘Meghnadbodh Rohoshyo’ is a mystery thriller. See, I don’t trust sequels because there is every possibility it may not work. Films require entertainment value as well and ‘Bhooter Bhabishyat’ has a lot of action and is high on drama but there’s an underlying message. I want to give the message through ghosts as it’s accepted by the audience quite well,” said the director who is now shooting for his next film based on late author Ramapada Choudhury’s story and has Soumitra Chatterjee in the lead.
