Anjan Dutt is facing heavy criticism for not following the West Bengal government’s health guidelines after he returned from Australia recently. The veteran actor attended an event organised by the Bangladesh deputy high commission in Kolkata immediately after his return.
However, Anjan justifies his decision saying: “I went to the gathering celebrating the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rehman for only a few minutes.
We [his band] went through a check-up in the airport and tested negative. Now we have decided go into self-isolation for the next 14 days."
He also said that they were cleaned properly before attending the event, which during that time, didn’t have much crowd. “I only waved to them from a distance, did not shake hands with anybody - neither did I eat there. I am responsible enough," Dutt said in his defense adding that he would be in quarantine at his home for the next 14 days.
However, when the video footages of the event, where he was seen singing his famous ‘Bela Bose’, were shared on social media, many slammed him for attending the public programme instead of going for self-isolation.
Meanwhile, two positive cases of coronavirus have already been reported in Kolkata and amid this tensed situation Anjan Dutt’s incident has raised some serious questions about public awareness.
