Arindam Sils next film after the second Byomkesh is likely to be based on Shirshendu Mukhopadhyays Madam O Mahashoy. Talks are on for the movie that may star Kaushik Sen, Jisshu U Sengupta, Abir Chatterjee, Arpita and June. Confirming the news, the director told us, Yes, I am planning to direct this film after Byomkesh, but its still too early to talk about it.
The film is about changing relationships in a world dominated by social media.
Dishonesty and infidelity have become a part of our lives. Else, how could a 17-year-old boy get killed when out with friends? questioned Sil.
So, is the film a fitting reply to his detractors who claim Sil is only good with thrillers? My first film, Aborto, was not a thriller. I am known as a thriller master, but it was my producer and the audience who wanted me to make back-to-back thrillers. And even if I make only thrillers, whats wrong with that? There was no one to make thrillers before me and now when I am doing it, people have issues. There are so many people who have already watched Eagoler Chokh and think I have nailed it, said Sil.
Abir Chatterjee, all praise for Sil, said the director can explore the dynamics of urban relationships without going overboard. I am so happy that Arindamda will be helming this project and I am a part of it. Everybody knows that Shirshendu is my favourite author and I am currently reading his novel to prepare for the film, said the actor. Jisshu, with whom Sil wanted to work for long, said, It is unfortunate that every time Arindamda offered me a role, I had prior commitments. But this time he has narrated the story to me and asked me to block my dates for end-December. Im keeping my fingers crossed, said Jisshu. Arpita, who is in talks with the director, said, Lets hope things fall into place and we work together in this film.
The film will go on the floors in December-January and the script is currently being worked on by Sil and Padmanabha Dasgupta.
