Arjunn backs 'Shrimati' Swastika on her stand over Paroma Banerjee’s body-shaming comment

“Just like a singer needs a melodious voice to succeed to perform a dance you need to have a slim figure,” that’s what singer Paroma Banerjee said on social media and little did she know about the outrage she is about to face. Many termed Paroma’s comment nothing but body shaming. It irked Swastika Mukherjee too. The actress is known for her firebrand nature raising voice on social issues time and again.

Swastika blasted the singer without mentioning her name via a long note on her social media handle and she immediately received loads of support from her fans and followers. Among them one was filmmaker Arjunn Dutta whose upcoming film ‘Shrimati’ stars Swastika in the lead. The celebrated actress too acknowledged Arjunn’s replies saying this is why she said yes to ‘Shrimati’ because the film talks about this subject.

“What Paroma Banerjee said is ridiculous. How could she comment like this? It’s a shame. I fully support Swastika di’s words. In today's malevolent world, where the outer appearance means everything Shrimati falls prey to the cliched dilemma between a good personality and outward appearance. She becomes obsessed and in the process almost loses her mind and identity until the sudden realisation dawns upon her that irrespective of the way people think and the way the world goes, one should never forget the soul that dwells within,” explained Arjunn when we caught up with the young director over the phone.
Incidentally, not only ‘Shrimati’, Arjunn’s another upcoming film ‘Guldasta’ also has Swastika Mukherjee playing one of the leads.
