Debutant filmmaker Arjunn Dutta is in a happy space. Why not? His first full length feature film ‘Abyakto’ has been selected for the Indian Language Competition Section at the 24th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF). In fact, this is nothing new for Arjunn. Earlier one of his short films ‘The 6th Element’ also grabbed a selection for the Short Film Corner at the Cannes. Featuring an ensemble cast of Adil Hussain, Arpita Chatterjee, Anubhav Kanjilal, Kheya Chattopadhyay, Lily Chakraborty, Debjani Chatterjee, Pinky Banerjee and Somantak Maitra among others, ‘Abyakto’ is all about the complex relationship between a mother and son played by Arpita and Anubhav respectively. Arpita will be seen in two different age groups of a single character, one of a woman at late 20s and another look will be of the early 50s. Adil Hussain will be seen as Rudra, the close family friend of the mother Saathi. Anirban Ghosh who last appeared in Rituparna Ghosh’s ‘Satyanweshi’, will essay out Arpita’s husband Kaushik’s role. Arjunn is planning a theatrical release of ‘Abyakto’ early next year.
