Whether Mikhail in ‘Kaminey’ or Bhopa Swami in ‘Aashram’,
Chandan Roy Sanyal has won our hearts with almost every character he has portrayed on screen. Now, the seasoned actor is all set for his Tollywood return for an upcoming series. Abhinandan Dutta’s mythological thriller ‘Amriter Sandhane - The Banaras Chapter’, an 8-episode web series, will start streaming from 14th April on a popular Bengali OTT platform. The series sees Chandan in his first Bengali OTT show alongside talented actors like
Sauraseni Maitra and Debasish Mondal in the lead.
The thriller, as a genre, has an engaging and ever-expanding viewer base and ‘Amriter Sandhane – The Banaras Chapter’ is like a Poila Baisakh gift for the viewers and the makers promise people will enjoy this edge-of-the-sit thriller as the performances are real and impactful.
The plot revolves around a lost manuscript about the secret behind immortality. As many people, including an international cartel, is after the manuscript, Banaras turns into a city of crime leading to mysterious deaths. An archeologist, Disha Chatterjee, played by Sauraseni Maitra and an undercover cop, Ishaan Sen, played by Debasish Mondal, set foot in the city to solve the puzzle. They find their nemesis in professor Tarun Shasmal, played by Chandan Roy Sanyal, who also is trying to get hold of that clue to immortality. That’s how the story unfolds in the series.
It will be interesting to see Chandan Roy Sanyal in a character with a lot of grey shades. The celebrated actor, as we all know, has a deep connection with Bengal since he worked with Buddhadeb Dasgupta on a few occasions and played an important role in Soukarya Ghosal’s ‘Rawkto Rawhosyo’.
Meanwhile, Abhinandan previously directed the critically acclaimed film ‘Ananta’ which had Riwick Chakraborty and
Sohini Sarkar in the lead.
