When was the last time you took a moment to appreciate the wonders of nature? Perhaps in all the free time this lockdown has left you with. But this
World Environment Day, a group of children has gone a step further and decided to befriend Mother Nature. In a heartwarming short film featuring 12 friends, the kids are expressing their love for everything from birds, air, sun and trees to animals, rain, rainbow, clouds and butterflies, while urging them to be their friends.
Titled Best Friend, it features children of
Sudiptaa Chakraborty,
Bidipta Chakraborty, Rupam Islam,
Chandril Bhattacharya and Anindya Chattopadhyay, among others. Created by Anindya, the video has graphics and illustrations by Upal Sengupta.
“The pandemic and Amphan indicate that Mother Nature is disappointed with us. She needs healing. We adults may have lost our credibility, but these kids can be trusted to do that. If this video can influence even one person to change, it will be a success,” said Anindya.
The short concludes with the message: ‘Love mother nature, make the world wonderful’. “This project is a collaboration between friends. I asked their parents for videos and they were happy to oblige. Upal took this huge responsibility of handling the animation. Prabuddhada (Banerjee) created music for each bit and his son Bodhisattwa sang for the video. Thanks to their combined efforts, we could churn out this video,” Anindya told us.
