Three years after ‘Bela Seshe’ became a runaway hit at the Bengali box office, director duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy are coming up with yet another love story-family drama ‘Bela Shuru’. The title may suggest it’s a sequel but the directors have already made it clear it’s neither a prequel or sequel to ‘Bela Seshe’. The entire cast of ‘Bela Seshe’ will be seen in ‘Bela Shuru’ as well. The film has an ensemble cast including Soumitra Chatterjee, Swatilekha Sengupta, Rituparna Sengupta, Aparajita Auddy, Kharaj Mukherjee, Indrani Dutta, Monami Ghosh, Anindya Chatterjee, Shankar Chakraborty and others. Windows had initially planned to release the highly-anticipated family drama during Durga Puja last year but later it was postponed and speculation was rife that it will hit the theatres during Christmas. But now, Nandita-Shiboprosad has confirmed ‘Bela Shuru’ will release in May this year. We all know every summer Windows release a film during May. Interestingly, SVF has also announced their magnum opus with Dev, directed by Dhrubo Banerjee, will release during the summer. So, it will be interesting to see whether the two films face a box office clash. The 2015 blockbuster 'Bela Seshe' gave us many learning experiences.
It highlighted the value of a relationship and the bonding between family members. ‘Bela Seshe’ had a serious message about how we depend on our family to lead a healthy and happy life. Who could have played the challenging role better than Soumitra Chatterjee! His presence made the Shibprasad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy directorial a really special one. Swatilekha Sengupta as his wife left the audience in awe as well. Focusing on the marital life of an elderly couple, it gives a strong message. Couples of the present generation have to continually strive to rejuvenate our relationships. A heart-warming conversation, a walk together, going down memory lanes together can work wonders and can prevent a marriage or relationship becoming lifeless.
