Last week, Baruns brother, AsitBiswas, had told us: My brother used to teach in a government school, Mitra Institution (Main). But even a year after his death, we havent got any of his dues be it pension, gratuity or provident fund!
The school immediately swung into action after this. We read the CT report on Friday and took steps to clear the logjam. It is not that the school had no intention of clearing his dues, as Barun was dear to all of us. But the fact is, Barun got the job through West Bengal School Service Commission and the school didnt have all his documents. As his was a government job, the school needed all his papers before the dues could be processed. We informed Baruns family, but somehow it took time. We got all of his documents 15-20 days back. After that, there was a function to mark Baruns death anniversary. So it might have taken some time, but Barun was a heroic person and were only too happy to do anything to help his family, said Asit Sen, assistant teacher, Mitra Institution (Main). According to Sen, Baruns mother and brother Asit will go to the school on Wednesday to sign the forms that can then be forwarded to the right department. We will see to it that the family gets the dues as early as possible, confirmed Sen.
He said that all the teachers at the school were looking forward to watching Proloy. Barun was my colleague for 13 years. He was a a pleasure to work with and always had a smile on his face. He was a fearless, upright man, who always spoke his mind. He used to teach Bengali from Class V to XII and was extremely popular as a teacher. The students used to wait for his class as he was more of a friend than a teacher to them, said
Asit Sen. Baruns family is very happy that his dues are finally being cleared. We are happy that the school is taking steps after the report appeared in the papers, said Asit. With tears in her eyes, Baruns mother said, I will go to Baruns school on Wednesday with my son to sign the file for his pension and gratuity.Aarkihobe, chhele tai cholegelo amar...
