Bengali cinema reached a new milestone as
Deep Fridge bagged the National Film Award for Best Bengali Feature Film at the 71st National Film Awards in New Delhi. The film was honored with the prestigious Silver Lotus, presented by the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in a ceremony that celebrated cinematic brilliance from across the country.
Director Arjunn Dutta proudly accepted the award on behalf of the film, marking a moment of immense pride for the team. Starring Abir Chatterjee, Tnusree Chakraborty, Debjani Chatterjee, Anuradha Mukherjee, Shoaib Kabeer, and Lakshya Bhattacharya, the film beautifully explores the emotional aftermath of divorce through the story of Swarnava and Mili, who must navigate their separation while striving to build a guilt-free future for their only child, Tatai.
Overwhelmed by the honor, Arjunn shared his joy, saying, “Woohoo! Finally made it to Delhi and collected my National Award from the honourable President. This day was a real task, spine and nerves on the edge, but I managed to keep my cool and didn’t face-plant on stage, phew! I’m still pinching myself, sharing the stage with filmmaking legends from across the country, what an honour to be awarded alongside such industry veterans.
Interacting with some of them was truly special. Wish Baba could’ve been here with me, but I didn’t want to risk his health. Maa and Dida, I know you two were cheering me on from above.”
With its heartfelt storytelling,
Deep Fridge not only resonates with audiences but also reaffirms the timeless charm and strength of Bengali cinema.
