The shoot of
Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha’s Samsara was a lot of fun for all the cast and crew members. It took about 18 days to shoot the film, out of which seven days of the shoot were spent in Meghalaya. As we talked to the directors, we learnt that the unit enjoyed every bit of the outdoor shoot.
Sharing her shooting experience, Devlina Kumar said that in the film there is a sequence in which she had to smoke a cigarette. “Being a non-smoker, I didn’t know how to smoke and that made me very tense about my performance. On the previous night, I took a special class from Rahulda (Banerjee) on how to hold and smoke a cigarette, but it didn’t help much,” she added. So, while giving the shot, my performance looked very mechanical.
“Abhijitda (Guha) tried to teach me a couple of times but it seemed that I just couldn’t do it. Finally, he scolded me and then I was able to pull it off better,” she said. She never expected to get reprimanded for being a non-smoker.
The story of Samsara revolves around three friends, played by
Ritwick Chakraborty, Rahul Banerjee and
Indrajit Chakraborty. The trio reunite after a long time and realise that Ritwick – a writer – is facing some crisis. So, they decide to go on a journey and finally reach a place called Samsara. There, all three of them face the truth from their past lives. The cast also includes Ambarish Bhattacharya, Samadarshi Dutta, Sudiptaa Chakraborty, Tnusree Chakraborty and Arja Banerjee.
