Director Aneek Chaudhuri is not new to seeing his films getting featured in Cannes market section. But this time it's all the more special for him and his team. "My film, The Tale Of A Santa And His Moth, has been very lucky in many respects. Though this is my fourth film going to the Cannes market section, it is special. First, it was a short which became a full-length feature film with a lot of support from all quarters.
Second, this time Cannes Film Festival will be bigger after two years of the pandemic lull, " he said.
The film stars Bollywood actor
Pawan Chopra and Usha Banerjee and has already been received well by those who have seen the first cut, the director said. "It's wonderful to be receiving such warmth and support from everywhere. A Mumbai-based company have taken it upon them to market it well at Cannes. So, I am expecting a lot of promotions and buzz around the film," he shared.
The film is based on the equation of a widower father who was once married to an Anglo-Indian lady, who later discovered his bisexual orientation and his ill daughter. Pawan Chopra plays the father and Usha Banerjee plays the daughter. In an interview to us during his visit to Kolkata for work, Pawan had said, "My wavelength matched with Aneek’s work. His work resonates with Alkazi’s thought processes yet he is not trained. I was, in fact, waiting for him to give me a call to get on board for the film."
