Talented filmmaker Indranil Banerjee’s next is a first-of-its-kind Bengali sitcom ‘Paanchforons’ set in a dilapidated mess house in old North Kolkata, owned by an aged Dhaneswar Panchal. Veteran actor
Paran Bandopadhyay will be seen as the mess owner whose comic timing can make you go ROFL any day. Apart from him, the sitcom also stars talented actors Arka Bhattacharya, Samya Samaddar, Sumit Pramanik, Subhasis Sikdar and Sounak Roy.
The story revolves around Dhaneswar whose only addiction is to watch Bengali soaps and drink country liquor. He lives on the first floor of the mess house.
The first tenant of the house is Zico who is struggling to be a guitarist and vocalist. This apart he is a number one big mouth and has a strong addiction to young girls. Prabhu, the second tenant is by profession a researcher but claims to be a scientist. He is a very reserved, calm, vegetarian and stays miles away from girls. Pradip, the third tenant is an aspiring actor, who is short-tempered and spends his days grooming and styling himself and goes for auditions regularly. He’s also a thief. Mahendra, a cafe boy working in a cafeteria is the fourth tenant. He is a simpleton from a village but a very cunning and stubborn type.
The hilarious encounters and incidents in this mess bari and the unique 5 jewels along with Panchal form the crux of this sitcom ‘Paanchforons’, produced by Mohul Sinha. Paran Bandopadhyay comes in the guise of Dhaneswar Panchal. This apart the five hilarious and tormenting characters are played by newcomers Arka Bhattacharya as Zico, Samya Samaddar as Prabhu, Sumit Pramanik as Soni and Subhasis Sikdar as Mahendra. Pradip is played by television and short film fame actor Sounak Roy. The DOP is Tuhin Dasgupta.
