Actor
Victor Banerjee received the Padma Bhushan from President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday and director Tathagata Bhattacharya is really happy about it. Not only because he is a big fan of the senior actor, but also because Tathagata recently completed the shoot of his upcoming Bengali film that stars Victor.
“The film we just completed is titled Akarik and alongside Victor Banerjee,
Rituparna Sengupta,
Anuradha Roy and Supratim Roy also play pivotal roles in the film.
It is a story of the conflict between two generations,” said Tathagata.
The story revolves around an elderly person, who has been raised in a joint family and cannot think of a life without one. He meets a boy from a nuclear family whose mother is a celebrity author. The character of the author is being played by Rituparna. “This is a story of conflicting ideals and values. None of the family systems has been shown in a bad light but provided with all the pros and cons of those,” Tathagata said.
“And Victor da has done great work in the project. I know him since my first film Antarghat in 2001 and it has been a pleasure working with him. If anyone is prouder of him for getting the Padma award that would be me,” Tathagata said.
