Haami’s Bhutu stages a play

Everyone still remembers Bhutu (Brata Banerjee), of Haami, directed by Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy. This time, Brata has acted, directed and penned a play titled Mahishasura Mardini, which was staged at his school. Though the play got a lot of appreciation from the school, the Class III student is not happy with the final outcome.
“It could have been better if we could rehearse a little more, but next time we will put in more effort.This was supposed to be staged on Teachers' Day, but it got shifted. I acted as Mahishasura and my classmate, who was selected as Ma Durga, did a good job. Next time, I plan to do it in a bigger way," said Brata. He added, “For 10 days, I was only writing the script. Then the script got lost and I was just crying. Then I got it back from my friend's house."
Brata got a lot of plaudits for his debut film, Haami, which was a story of a real and simple friendship between two primary school students — Bhutu, son of businessman Laltu Biswas and Mitali Biswas and newly admitted Chini, daughter of a professor and teacher. Drama ensues as Bhutu kisses Chini as a symbol of friendship, which creates a clash between the respective families with their grown-up sensibilities.
So how did he spend his Puja, we ask Brata. “On Dashami, I went out with my parents at around 6 am and visited 20 pandals. I was back home by noon. Many people wanted to click selfies with me and I obliged them happily," said the actor. So do his friends treat him like a celebrity? "No. I am like any other boy of my age," was Brata’s quick reply.
