Sukalyann
Bhattacharya staged his
annual show
on April 19, assembling art and contemporary dance forms that captivated the hearts of the audience. On this auspicious occasion, few dignitaries of the city were honoured. The event witnessed a new dance drama, performed by the pupils of Sukalyann’s dance school and the audience loved the performance.
The programme started with a contemporary dance piece, which incorporated with the aesthetic melody of Rabindranath Tagore’s Aloker E Rei Jhorna Dhara, which highlighted the flawless amalgamation of the east and the west. The music was composed by
Subhen
Chatterjee. Tollywood personalities Indrani Halder,
Chaiti
Ghoshal, Anjana Basu and Satinath Mukhopadhay were present and felicitated at the event.
The kids also performed another piece that showed unity in diversity. There was another dance number where the dancers offered their prayers to Lord Ganesha, the destructor of obstacles. Lord Ganesha is worshipped before every auspicious occasion. He is the son of Lord Shiva and Uma and the younger brother of Guruguha, or Kartikeya. Thus, the dancers began their performance praising Lord Ganesha.
Chaiti Ghoshal, who just completed shooting for Arijit Bose’s yet untilted film, said, “I play an interesting character in Arijit’s film. She has to come to a city which was known to her at one point of time but now it is totally new.” That apart, the actress is part of a stage production titled Khela Ghar based on Doll’s House and it is directed by Biplab Banerjee. “I am happy to play Nora and I am acting opposite to Debshankar Haldar. Anjana Basu is also part of the cast,” said Chaiti.
