Christmas is round the corner and Debina Bonnerjee has decked up a portion of her house to celebrate the Yuletide spirit. "One thing that I do every Christmas is decorate a portion of my house. That is how we usher in the Yuletide spirit in our family. This year, I chose my balcony for it," she told us.
Elaborating on her decorations, she said, "To create my Christmas corner, I used white clothes, fairy lights and candles. My mother was delighted to see it."
Remembering her Kolkata days, Debina told us, "Since I grew up in the City of Joy, Christmas for me meant cakes from the iconic bakeries of New Market. I always preferred plain cakes over the ones with fruits. My father used to order that especially for me. In Mumbai, my mother once decided to bake a cake on Christmas to bring back the old memories. She ended up making a fruit cake and I was heartbroken. But I later realised that for mums, more is better and hence, she added all those good dry fruits to the cake."
