Its official now. Prosenjit Chatterjee will be making his small screen debut soon. The superstar, who had also turned down the offer to host the Bengali version of Kaun Banega Crorepati, is now all set to anchor a reality show titled Benche Thakar Gaan. Shooting for this 26-episode series will begin by end-October.Says Chatterjee, Yes, I am hosting a reality show for the first time in my career.
It is more of an emotionally driven concept of hearing the tales of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. These are stories of people that we had read about in the media years ago. I will be revisiting these stories. This series merges fiction and non-fictional content. At the end of each episode, we will have one celebrity singer dedicating one number to the person featured in that episode. I will be shooting continuously for the show. As of now, it has been decided that the show will air all the 26 episodes at one go.
While shooting for a reality show will surely take up a lions share of Chatterjees time, it will also be a very draining exercise. I havent signed on a new venture. I want to finish the shooting of the reality show and then go on to movies. I have some offers for doing Hindi cinema but havent taken up any as yet. I will decide on them post-November,
he says.
As for Bengali movies, Chatterjee had two offers from his Autograph and Baishey Srabon director Srijit. I have liked a comedy that Srijit has written. I have liked the script and my character. Though this film is not a Bheja Fry, I have a character which is as irritating as the protagonist of that movie. The character is as irritating as Tenida though the comedy is not meant for children. If all goes well, I would want to give dates for this comedy from February next year. However, there was another movie that Srijit had wanted me to do with him. It has an ensemble cast of 12 actors. The film has an interesting mix of storytelling format of both movies and theatre. However, I have told Srijit that casting me in his third film might again lead to this assumption that it has happened only because we work as a team. I have no problems doing movies with an ensemble cast but I want to take a break before I go on to do another movie with Srijit. I am turning down offers almost every day. I have reached a stage where I want to be very sure about what I am doing. I have liked Sekhar Das adaptation of
Nil Lohit.
Srijit, on his part, says, Bumbada has liked the script of my romcom though its too early for me to talk about that movie.
