Kolkata Film Festival to come soon

The Kolkata Film Festival, to be held between November 10 and 17, is coming up with a new concept this year. True to its name, the Festival will be screening movies that have had the city as an important character in them.
Says Anjan Dutt, who is chairing the selection committee, ���������Goutam Ghose had come up with the idea of having a section to pay tribute to the city.The idea is to screen movies that have Kolkata as a character. We���������ve decided to screen 7-8 movies. Other language films, including ���������City of Joy��������� and ���������The Waiting City���������, can also feature here.���������
Says Ghose, ���������I would want the segment to be called Calcutta/Kolkata. The whole point is to showcase movies that have Kolkata���������s presence either externally or internally. We had shortlisted various films, including Ray���������s ���������Mahanagar���������, Mrinalda���������s ���������Calcutta 71���������. I think, my ���������Kaalbela��������� was also shortlisted for this segment.���������
