The contestants of Mirakkel were in for a treat. Singer Kunal Ganjawala recently shot for a episode where he featured as the guest judge. The comedy show had its dose of music with him and the contestants along with Mir stated unanimously, that it was great fun shooting for the special episode.
The organizers were at first apprehensive about inviting Ganjawala, as he is not a Bengali, and the Bengali jibes and puns, might just be lost on him. Said Mir, who just completed shooting for the episodes, "At first we were confused whether or not the decision to invite him would bear fruit. You see, had it been a dance or music reality show, his not being a Bengali wouldn't pose much problem.
But since this show is intrinsically based on the power of words, I was sure that all would be lost in translation. But the man proved me wrong and passed with flying colours." Mir added that not only was Kunal very involved in the show, he also encouraged the contestants a lot, which meant a lot to them.
but all that apart, the contestants couldn't let him go, without first entertaining them with a few songs. And entertain, Kunal did. He sang old and new hits like
Oh my love, Mahhi ve, Sedin dekha hoyechhilo, O humdum suniyo re etc.
But what took Mir by surprise was the fact that Kunal asked Mir to sing too. and when Mir sang two ghazals by
Jagjit Singh, it was Kunal's turn for the surprize. The singer was so impressed with Mir and his band Bandage (the Band performing on the show), that he offered them to be his support team whenever he performs in Kolkata next. "The offer, out of the blue, has put me in a fix. I am a little worried, what I am gonna do. Needless to say though, that I am overjoyed at this generous offer!"
The episodes featuring Kunal Ganjawala and a whole lot of Music-
masti-mazaak will be telecast on 2 and 3 April.
