Mimi Chakraborty reacts to Bilkis Bano case, says ‘I am furious and broken'

Actor-TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty is furious to see the latest development in the Bilkis Bano rape case as the 11 convicts were released despite the nationwide protest against the Gujarat government's decision while the entire nation was celebrating Independence Day. Mimi also took a dig at PM Modi, especially after his Independence Day speech. The ‘Mini’ actor strongly reacted to the incident as a woman and also claimed that she is 'furious and broken'.
"What was the 15th august speech about??? You said respecting and honouring women right????? This is just a woman talking today and i am furious and broken," Mimi tweeted. Within moments, her tweet went viral as netizens also questioned the Gujarat government’s directive.

Even, Mimi’s friend and industry colleague, actor-MP Nusrat Jahan also wrote that women are still waiting for injustice to end.
For the unversed, on August 15, the Gujarat government decided to release all 11 convicts who were sentenced to life imprisonment in the gang rape case under its remission policy. The decision led to a social media outrage while many demanded a withdrawal of the release order.

Bilkis Bano herself later released a statement mentioning that her faith in the Indian judicial system has been shaken by this decision. "Two days ago, on August 15, 2022, the trauma of the past 20 years washed over me again when I heard that the 11 convicted men who devastated my family and my life, and took from me my three-year-old daughter, had walked free," read Bilkis Bano’s statement that was released by her lawyer Sobha on her behalf.
