On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Ranjay RC has come up with a short film — 50 Takar Chhobi — starring Mir Afsar Ali, Bidyut Das, Debi Saha and Manjula Poley. Giving us a peek into its storyline, the director said, “One day, a man comes across an interesting poster. It reads: ‘I have lost a Rs 50 note. If you find it, please return it to me’. The poster also mentions the address.

Out of curiosity, the man pays a visit to the house and finds an old woman there. She refuses to take the money that the man offers. She tells him that every day someone or the other comes to her house to return her the money, but she has already got it. She also asks him to tear off the poster on his way back. But the man sees another girl reading the poster and doesn’t do what he was asked to.” Ranjay added that there’s a reason why he does it and one will have to watch the short to understand that. About working with Mir, he said, “The short is by a production house that has earlier collaborated with Mir. Personally too, I wanted to work with him and when I made the request, he said yes.” Curiously, in 2017, Ranjay had done the camera for another Mother’s Day short, which was directed by Pritha Chakraborty. “This is the fifth short by the production house. While Pritha made three, I did Ek Bachchan E Bohu Bachchan before 50 Takar Chhobi,” said Ranjay, who has also done the camera for the same. The short will release on May 12.
