'Nayika' teaser: Ishaa Saha and Priyanka Sarkar have each other’s back in this women centric film

Female-centric content is on the rise in India lately. With ‘Laapata Ladies’ winning hearts of the viewers on the OTT platform after waving magic in theatres, and Anasuya Sengupta and Payel Kapadia creating history at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival – the importance and acceptance of female-centric content has risen. Tollygunge is putting its best foot forward to cater to the audience with fresh contents led by the heroines of the entertainment industry.Ishaa Saha and Priyanka Sarkar, two of the popular faces in Tollywood are teaming up for their upcoming project. The two actresses are set to team up for Rohan Sen’s upcoming directorial venture ‘Nayika’. The film is slated for a Durga Puja release this year.
The announcement teaser shows Ishaa in the role of an established actress, while Priyanka essays the character of a homemaker. Ishaa tells the latter that she is planning to make a movie with two heroines and no heroes, and reveals that the second heroine will be Priyanka. Initially apprehensive, Priyanka finally agrees to the idea. The video concludes with Priyanka asking Ishaa what the title of the film would be, and ‘Nayika’ appears as the title of the film on screen.

Produced by Kichukhan Entertainment and Frame Per Second Entertainment, ‘Nayika’ is the fourth feature film to be directed by Rohan Sen. He has previously directed ‘Aparajitaa’ (2022), ‘Subho Bijaya’ (2022), and ‘Pakdondi’ (2023).
Raya (played by Ishaa) and Sohini (played by Priyanka) are the protagonists of Rohan’s directorial, which aims to celebrate female friendship through his film. In the story, Raya faces a problem in a poster release event for a film. The media circulates several stories about her. Sohini contacts Raya during that trying time. Will a friend extend her help when another friend is in danger? The story will also go on to tackle the equation between two friends as both of them wanted to be actresses at one point.

Rohan serves as the writer and the screenwriter of ‘Nayika’ along with directing the film. Ishaa and Priyanka’s looks for the film are already out. ‘Nayika’ will be competing at the box office against Srijit Mukherji’s ‘Tekka’ featuring Dev, Swastika Mukherjee, Rukmini Maitra and Tota Roy Choudhury. Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s ‘Bohurupi’ starring Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty and Koushani Mukherjee will also be releasing during Durga Puja this year.
