Pradipta Bhattacharya’s ‘Rajlokkhi O Srikanto’ made everyone curious ever since the film was announced and the national award winning director took time to complete his film. The modern day take on some handpicked portions of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s iconic 1917 novel Srikanto was supposed to release this Friday (September 20).
Now, amidst his last minute promotions, Pradipta got to know his film didn't get any screen in Kolkata and even in the outskirts! It’s no doubt terrible news and also shows how pathetic is the future of Independent filmmakers in Bengal.
The critically acclaimed filmmaker decided to express his displeasure writing down a note on his social media handle. It came as a shock to the Bengali movie-buffs.
However, according to the latest update, things may get better soon and ‘Rajlokkhi O Srikanto’ may well get a theatre release in Kolkata on September 20 alongside one cinema hall each in Sodepur and Baruipur. Meanwhile another source close to the industry says the film's release has been pushed back to September 27.
Meanwhile, two other Bengali films are set to release tomorrow, 'Goyenda Junior' and '17th September'.
