Poroborti Station Begunkodar directed by Suchandra X Vaaniya and Chaandroday Pal, explores the mystery surrounding Begunkodor Railway Station, long known for its haunting legend.
Set in 2009, the story follows Dr. Nayan Mukherjee, a cardiac surgeon and rationalist who is asked by the All Bengal Rationalists Forum to investigate the so-called “Ghost of Begunkodor”. The station had remained shut for over four decades after a station master reportedly died days after claiming he had seen the ghost of his daughter.
As Nayan and his team begin their investigation, they discover that the mystery is layered with belief, fear and hidden interests. While some villagers firmly believe the station is haunted, others see the legend as a source of tourism and livelihood. Set against the backdrop of rural Bengal, the film explores how myths and reality often intertwine.
