Raihan Rafi's film ‘Shurongo’ has been leaked online and the makers are baffled about how it has been done and how to stop this piracy. The leaked version of the Bangladeshi film has made it to several movie-related websites, including YouTube and Facebook. ‘Shurongo’ had a successful release in Kolkata on July 21, but the sudden piracy left people puzzled about its source.
However, the film's editor, Simit Ray Antor, investigated the pirated copy and noticed that it was not recorded during a regular show, as there were no audience reactions like laughter or chatter. He claims that the movie wasn't recorded during a live screening. Instead, it was taken using a tripod, indicating a possible involvement of a movie theater in the piracy.
According to Simit, the differences between the Indian and Bangladeshi versions of the movie suggest that the piracy most likely originated in Bangladesh. He pointed out that the specific title card, present in the Bangladeshi version, was missing from the Indian one.
In response to the piracy, director Raihan Rafi took action to remove all YouTube copies through copyright claims, but some versions on Facebook are still circulating, and they are working to block these as well.
Despite the piracy issue, ‘Shurongo’ is running successfully in theatres both in Bangladesh and West Bengal. The film made its way to 31 theaters in West Bengal receiving some great response. It features the talented duo of Afran Nisho and Tama Mirza, whose on-screen chemistry has captivated the audience and critics alike.
It’s quite clear that ‘Shurongo’ was leaked online shortly after its successful release in Kolkata. Many have suggested that the leak might have originated in Bangladesh, and the makers are taking all the necessary measures to address the situation while continuing to showcase their film to audiences across various theaters.
