Raj Chakraborty’s 2019 film ‘Parineeta’, starring
Subhashree Ganguly and
Ritwick Chakraborty in the lead, was appreciated by one and all, not only for its music but also for the refreshing content. Now, there is a strong buzz that Raj might soon make a Hindi version of the film. Speculation is rife that he has already accepted a lucrative offer from an OTT giant to remake the film. But there’s no other news about whether it will be made into a web series or a film just like the original movie.
Parineeta — a name made famous by a star-studded Hindi film — is cleverly used in this
Raj Chakraborty-directed Bengali film. While it traces the story of a fun-loving and childlike teenager, Mehul (
Subhashree Ganguly), smitten by a neighbourhood boy Babai (Ritwick), it also completes the tale of her transforming into a woman.
Subhashree received accolades from all corners for a stellar performance in the film. From slipping into a teenager’s shoes to essaying the role of a young, middle-class working woman, she was on point with her acting. Ritwick is also brilliant as Mehul’s Babaida. The scenes between the two are well-written and beautifully enacted.
Now, it will be interesting to see if the film is actually remade in Hindi, then what cast Raj chooses in order to grab everyone’s attention.
