Put all your Akrosh to rest. Its time again to raise a toast to the Jeet-Rituparna pairing after a span of nearly five years. The jodi will be taking you for a joyride in Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyays untitled next. This will also be a Champion second for the Jeet-Srabanti pairing. Its certainly a double delight for Jeet as he puts on the lovers hat for the leading ladies in this Ashok Dhanuka production.
Shiboprosad can hardly contain his excitement as he gets ready to can the shots with two of his best friends (read Jeet-Rituparna) from the industry who, he vouches, will give their best for the project. The directors association with Ritu goes back to the time he did four dance dramas, Shyama, Chandalika, Shaap Mochon and Mayar Khela with her. I wanted to conceive of a project where dance would be integral to the plot, and with Nandita Roys assistance in the story, screenplay and direction, we did manage that. At the same time, this film highlights family values, explains the director. After zeroing in on Jeet to play the trendy choreographer, it seemed a natural choice to sign on the nimble-footed Rituparna. And Srabanti is a mature actor. She and Rituparna play two sisters, both of whom fall for Jeet, says Mukhopadhyay. Sources say, with lavish sets, costumes by Nital Ghanatra and the best of technicians, this might just turn out to be the most expensive film of 2009. Another eye-catcher is the re-emergence of the Jeet-Ritu pairing. So, has the Prosenjit-Ritu pairing found a replacement? Jeet refutes, Replace isnt the word. The cast is in keeping with the demands of the story. And finally, the audience will take a call on whether they want to see more of the Jeet-Ritu pairing on screen. Upbeat to be paired opposite someone he is comfortable working with, Jeet adds, Rituparnas admirers too, I guess, would like to see the two of us together on screen. With Akrosh having struck gold at the BO, its surprising that no one thought of cashing in on the pair so far. There were talks of casting the two of us together earlier, Rituparna says, adding that somehow the two failed to come together on screen post-Akrosh. I dont know about the X-factor, but I think people liked what they saw and its time again for them to give a verdict on our pairing, the actor sounds hopeful.Equally optimistic, is Dhanuka: Many had discouraged me during Akrosh, saying that the pair wouldnt work. But I stood my ground. And in keeping with this films subject, I decided to cast the three together. Apart from the Jeet-Ritu on screen chemistry, it was also essential to show the age difference between the two sisters.Mukhopadhyay, on his part, feels, Theres an absence of mature pairing in Tollywood at the moment. Jeet and Rituparna are matinee idols now. Maybe, others too will take a cue from this pairing and cast the two together more often. So, as Jeet gets ready to groove under the guidance of Mumbai choreographer Baba Yadav, one wonders how confident the actor is about his dancing skills. Im not a great dancer. Itll be tough, but I expect to come out with flying colours if I get to do a workshop with Baba, Jeet sounds reassuring. With the Kolkata leg of the shooting scheduled to start in April, heres hoping that theres no Taal lost between the Jeet-Ritu chemistry and the audience.Check out Rituparnas pictures
