Simanto is special as it was shot in lockdown: Ranojoy
The teaser of Suman Mitra’s film Simanto is out. The film stars Paayel Sarkar, Shaheb Bhattacherjee, Ranojoy, Mainak Banerjee, Sudip Mukherjee, Hrishie Raj, Ananda Choudhuri, Sonia Roy, Sushil Sikaria, Dhruba Debnath, Pallav Ghosh and Ratnadeep Ghosh.
“I play a special officer and my character has a lot of shades. We shot the film during the lockdown, so it is all the more special,” said Ranojoy, who plays the lead in a serial.
Through the lens of the Intelligence Bureau, the audience will witness a dark realism lost in time and space as lives become inescapably intertwined in this coming-of-age crime thriller.

An elite team of the IB perpetually strives to detect and eliminate a nexus of crime leading to a potentially lethal operation in Kolkata and along the India-Bangladesh borders. The unforgettable, heartbreaking story of an unlikely friendship, the film is about the power of positive hope, the price of betrayal, and the possibility of redemption from innocence to revelation.
The rumour was that Ranojoy was dating actress Sohini Sarkar and both of them were thinking of getting married too. But it is said that his relationship with Sohini has hit a rough patch now. “I don’t want to talk about it. It is my personal issue and moreover, it is not the right time. She is a brilliant actress and I would love to work with her in the near future,” said the actor, who has worked in a Tamil film titled 12 B.
