On Shudhu Tomari Jonyo
For any actor, its a great high if his or her film releases during Puja, and for me, its a double bonanza as STJ, produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, has released nationally.
1x1 polls
Im so happy that the film has been appreciated by all and is doing good business. In fact, I knew this film will do well at the box office, as the story and the content are its USPs. I have done so many commercial remakes, but this one stands apart. I would say its not a remake, but an adaptation of a good story. All the four characters in the film are unique, but its the story thats attracting people to the theatres. And then, Birsa adds his own touch while making films and that sets him
apart from others. The film shows Adi and Nayantara getting married, only to be haunted by their pasts. Nayantara had given her heart to a guy, who deserted her on their wedding day, while Adi had fallen for a girl who died in an accident, compelling him to take refuge in alcohol. Whether the couple will find love again is what the film is about. Birsa has done a stupendous job as a director and that shows in the film. So this Puja, have fun, be happy and watch STJ with your friends and family.

On being in the industry for almost 10 years
I feel Im Ma Durgas favourite child. She has given me more than I deserve. Im blessed to get so much love from all and it has made me what I am today. Almost 10 years in this industry has taught me many things and I treasure that. I give my 500% to any film and I feel equally responsible if a film doesnt work at the box office. Commercial films need stars, but I am grateful that directors like Aparna Sen, Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Kaushik Ganguly and Srijit Mukerji are considering me for their films. I get too many film offers each day, but only sign when I believe in the story and my character. I am extremely happy that so many films have released this Puja, which proves that our industry is growing. Long live Bangla cinema!
Puja plans
My sister has just got married and this is her first Puja after marriage. She has Puja in her in-laws house and my time is dedicated to her. That apart, I have to be present at my complex Puja too. I love to have bhog and be part of dhunuchi nach. Every year, I try to play the dhak and this year will be no different. I bought a beautiful sari for ma. I still remember how my sister and I used to fight over new Puja clothes! But now I am in such a profession that I have to wear at least 50 new clothes for each film. The charm of the notun jama is gone. But wearing new clothes gifted by ma on Ashtami while offering anjali to Ma Durga is a ritual I love to follow.
