SRFTI film to compete for Golden Royal Bengal Tiger award

‘Furniture’ directed by Nazmus Sakib Himel will be competing under the National Competition (short fiction) category at the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival. The film, backed by Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), will compete for the prestigious Golden Royal Bengal Tiger award.
The story of ‘Furniture’ is all about a family which migrates from a village to a small town, for better education for their children.In the new neighborhood, they feel the social pressure of buying luxury furnitures to entertain their guests. How the family deals with the new crisis, which is something they didn’t experience in their rural life forms the crux of this short.
Jyotika Joyti who played Rajlokhi in Pradipta Bhattacharya’s ‘Rajlokhi O Srikanto’ essays Parvin, one of the leads in the film which was shot in November last year. The cast of ‘Furniture’ also includes Deepak Suman, Debjan Paul,and Priyanka Jana among others.
