Subhrajit Datta will play Byomkesh in Bratya Basus stage adaptation of Artham Onartham. Some time back, the audience got a taste of Subhrajit Datta as Byomkesh Bakshi in Swapan Ghosals Magno Mainak. Though the film turned out to be a BO dud, it got the actor a fair share of good reviews. Now, news is that Byomkesh Bakshi will soon be staged.
Directed by
Bratya Basu, the play, a first on Byomkesh, will see Subhrajit getting under the skin of the sleuth.
Confirming the news, the actor said, The play is based on Sharadindu Bandopadhyays Artham Onartham. I have no words to express how I felt when Bratyada offered me this role.
So, how did the role come his way? Bratyada conducted an acting workshop when I was doing Raktakarabi . At that time, he assured me that well work together in future. He watched Magno Mainak and praised my role as Byomkesh. When he planned the stage version of Artham Onartham, he approached me to play Byomkesh, Subhrajit explained.
Artham Onartham revolves around the murder of a landlord. It is in this story where Byomkesh meets Satyabati, rather falls in love with her. Poulomidi , Bratyadas wife, is playing Satyabati. We have already done four-five rehearsals and our first show is on March 11 at the Academy of Fine Arts, informed the actor.
