She is best known for her comic timing. And Tanima Sen is doing what she does best, tickling the audiences funnybone in Subhasini, which is aired on a private Bengali channel. My character suffers from kleptomania, says Tanima, after she finishes a shot.
To the uninitiated, the actor is all ready with her directorial debut, Swapno Pinjar.
But sadly, the project has run into troubled waters. Explains Tanima, Everything has been finalised. I even have the cast in place, but no producer is ready to back the
project. Problem is the financers are looking for a run-of-the-mill commercial film.
If having to put her pet project on the backburner saddens her, Tanima has some consolation in the fact that she, along with Biswajit Chakraborty and Don will be leaving for Nashville on July 14. This is the first time that the Bengalis there are
organising a festival and we have been invited. Biswajit has directed a play titled Abhora Sona which has been adapted from a foreign play. We will be staging it on July 16, the excitement in Tanimas voice is palpable.
And while on such visits to foreign shores, Tanima remembers the time when she had received an invitation from the Bengali association in Qatar during Naboborsho. It was my first visit to the place. I had travelled along with Biswanath, Rupanjana and Neil. We staged a small skit. In fact, they had specifically mentioned my name. Ami jeno oboshoi ashi, ora bolechhilo. And I must say that I had the time of my life there. I have had people embracing me and calling up their mothers saying, Ma, Tanimadi ke joriye boshe achhi recollects the actor, while adding that even now a few of them are in touch with her.
