After
Arindam Sil’s ‘Iskaboner Bibi’,
Trina Saha has bagged yet another meaty role in
Srijit Mukherji’s much-anticipated ‘Loho Gouranger Naam Re’. The popular TV actress will be seen opposite
Parambrata Chattopadhyay who plays the titular role of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Trina will play Shri Chaitanya’s wife Lakshmipriya. This is surely a huge break for the talented actress. However, this is not the first time Trina is doing films since she has already two films in her career – ‘Password’ and ‘Thai Curry’.
Meanwhile, Parambrata will also lend his voice to the kirtan renditions by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Speaking about Trina coming on board for the period piece, Srijit shared, “Trina has already worked with me as an assistant director in her early days. Now she will be acting in my film. This is really interesting. She’s a spontaneous actor and I believe she will do justice to Lakshmipriya’s character. I hope she will improve more after working in this film.”
Meanwhile, Trina is also excited to be a part of such an important film. She’s a regular face now in a leading Bengali TV serial and also getting a lot of film offers. So, for Trina, it’s certainly an important phase in her career. In Arindam Sil’s ‘Iskaboner Bibi’, she will be sharing the screen with Arunima Ghosh
Interestingly, even a few years ago filmmakers and producers were reluctant to make a television actress the leading lady of a film. However, the scenario is changing slowly as more and more actresses from the small screen are getting lead roles in films. For instance, Solanki Roy’s recent chemistry with
Jisshu Sengupta in ‘Baba Baby O’ has been appreciated by one and all. Madhumita Sarcar has also appeared in lead roles in as many as five films. Even Ishaa Saha who has become a known face in the industry has also come from television background.
