However, due to recent incidents in Kolkata, the singer has opted not to return this year, cancelling his scheduled concerts in the city.
“Durga Puja in Kolkata holds a special place in my heart,” says Mukherjee. “Every year, it’s a time for me to reconnect with my roots, family, and the music that inspires me. Unfortunately, this year, I had to prioritize my stand and the well-being of everyone involved.”
In light of the circumstances, he has chosen to celebrate Durga Puja on a smaller scale in Mumbai. Despite being away from the grandeur of Calcutta’s festivities, he held an intimate gathering with close friends and fellow musicians to honor the spirit of Navratri.
“My heart is with everyone in Kolkata during this festival season. Though I couldn’t be there in person, I’ve carried the essence of the celebrations with me here in Europe,” Mukherjee adds.
Known for his chart-topping compositions and soulful voice, Mukherjee’s absence from the Durga Puja concerts has been felt across Kolkata. Fans are hopeful for his return in the coming years, as he continues to celebrate his culture through music, no matter where he is.
Arko has always made it a point to embrace his heritage and infuse the cultural richness of Bengal into his work, making him one of the most respected and adored artists in the country.
