Mayookh is happy to find a voice for his 23-year-old song
Tabla virtuoso Mayookh Bhaumik is really excited. The song, he had composed some 23 years ago, has finally been recorded. Yeh Jo Dil Piya happened to be his very first composition. He had to wait for over two decades to find the right voice who could sing the song, shared Mayookh.
Sung by the 19-year-old Biyas Sarkar and written by Srijato Bandopadhyay, the song was finally released on Valentine’s Day.

“Yeh Jo Dil Piya was my first composition. I was 18 then. This composition actually made me realise that I wanted to be a composer. I have composed several songs in between but never got the right voice who could do justice to it. I am so happy now that it has released. Ustad Zakir Hussain has also praised the song, which means a lot to me. It is a Hindi romantic love song which talks about the journey of a woman who is in love but cannot find who she is looking for,” said Mayook.
The music video was conceptualised and directed by Tathagata Mukherjee. Actress Shilpa Mondal features in this video. Mayookh has recently played a stunning tabla solo on Saraswati Puja at the residence of Bickram Ghosh and the video on social media has received a lot of praise. “I am overwhelmed by the response I got from the tabla recital. Ustab Taufiq Qureshi, Tamnoy Bose and many others have praised it,” said Mayook who is currently busy composing for the film Bhotbhoti.
