Kolkatans were treated to a good dose of classical music at Swara Samrat Festival, a concert organized by sarod maestro Pt Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, at a city auditorium recently.
The two day-long musical extravaganza was dedicated to sarod legend Ustad Bahadur Khan, as hundreds thronged in to listen to stalwarts like Pt Swapan Chowdhury, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pt Venkatesh Kumar, Pt Abhijeet Banerjee, Shahdat Hussain Khan, Pt Jyoti Guho along with Utsad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, U Shrinivas and V Selvaganesh.

The maestros left the audience mesmerized with a fusion of Carnatic and Hindustani classical music. “It was great to see a lot of youngsters present at the do. I dedicated this concert to my guru. I want to thank the music lovers who were a part of this event,” said Pt Tejendra Narayan Mazumdar. Ustad Zakir Hussain said, “It is an honour to play for Ustad Bahadur Khan. I would love to come back to Kolkata for such events.”
