Singers and composers discuss song labelling at KIFF
Abhi Na Jao Chor Kar, the immortal song from the 1961 film, Hum Dono, was written by Abdul Hayee, composed by Jaidev and sung by Mohammed Rafi. But it’s known as just a Rafi song. A host of musicians and filmmakers discussed this topic at the Cine Adda on Day 2 of KIFF 2019.
While director Kaushik Ganguly was the moderator, Indraadip Dasgupta, Iman Chakraborty, Usha Uthup,
Indraadip said more than the tag, the most important thing is that the songs should reach people. “Bengali film songs are making waves and that’s the most important thing. For me, it doesn’t matter how people label it. Being a music director, if I honestly compose a song, it will always be mine, regardless of what people call it,” he said.
