Sonali Banerjee is excited about her new soft rock ballad

Singer Sonali Banerjee, who was also a finalist in a Bengali singing reality show, is excited about her latest single. The song, titled Opekkhay, is a soft rock ballad, whose lyrics and composition has been done by Soumya Das Gupta, son of music director Sudhin Dasgupta.
Apart from lending her voice to the song, Sonali also shot for the music video, all of which was done during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.Sharing her experience, the young singer said, “The single and the music video was recently released online. Last year, just before the pandemic, Soumya uncle offered me this beautiful song, while he was in Oman. I was so happy and excited to receive this offer from him. We had a telephonic conversation and he sent me the scratch. I dubbed the voice and sent it to him. While he and Aritra Das Gupta were busy mixing the song, I got an opportunity to participate in one of the biggest music reality shows of Bengal. So, at that time I couldn't shoot the video, but had already recorded the single. After the show got over and when we were planning for the shoot, the entire country was severely hit by the second wave of Covid-19. Once the situation got a bit better, we planned to do the video shot in Santiniketan. But due to the Covid-19 restrictions, we had to complete the shoot in and around Kolkata with a minimum number of crew members.”

Sonali is also ecstatic to receive positive feedback about her song from some of the popular names from the music and film industry. “Stalwarts of our music and film industries like Manomoy Bhattacharya, Srikanto Acharya, Soumitra Ray, Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury, Joy Sarkar, Abir Chatterjee and others have sent me love, blessings and wishes,” added the singer.
Soumya also had a wonderful time collaborating with Sonali for the project. He shared, “I was on the lookout for fresh voices to sing some of the songs I was composing. I wanted to work with young, talented upcoming singers. A very close friend of mine sent me a video of Sonali, where she was playing the guitar and singing. That video immediately caught my attention. I liked her tonal quality and singing style. I had composed this song sometime back and I thought she would be a perfect choice. Working with Sonali has been a wonderful experience. She is a complete musician and understands the demands of a particular composition. We have a lot of common musical preferences and that helped while working too.”
