Deb Sankar Roy and Jyoti Sankar Roy, who are more popularly known as
ViolinBrothers, are going to perform at a prestigious concert organised by
Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts at the end of November. It is a concert of Indian classical music and the duo will perform Bagasree raga, accompanied by tabla. “It is a very prestigious event. We are grateful to be able to perform there,” said Deb Sankar.
The duo recently got back from
Imphal, where they performed at a western classical concert.
The concert – Radio Sangeet Sammelan – was organised by AIR for the first time and the
ViolinBrothers were the only musicians who were invited to perform there from Kolkata. There was a 30-minutes performance and the duo played various compositions by Mozart and The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi.
Besides being busy with different concerts, the Deb Sankar and Jyoti Sankar are also busy with a French project. The duo has recently joined hands with Olivia Villeroy, a French singer. “She will perform in a symphony very soon and we have designed the entire sound of the concert,” said Deb Sankar.
Meanwhile, Deb Sankar said that they are also getting very good response from the single they have recently released. The project is on Je Raate – a song by Tagore. The song has been sung by Brishtilekha and based on string instruments like
violin, viola and cello. “It has been released in different online mediums and is doing very well,” he added.
