Rwitobroto Mukherjee is a busy young man. While he is writing his ISC exams, two of his films —
Rong Beronger Kori
and
Parnomochi — are set to release this month. And that’s not all. For the first time, this young talent has managed to translate a play that will be staged by
Ashokenagar Natyaanan
on March 28. “One day Chandan Kakai (Sen) handed me a play and said, ‘Ei ne tor natok. Onubad kore de’. It was
David Campton
’s Us and Them. After the initial shock, I managed to translate it. While Kakai was very happy with my work, my father (
Shantilal Mukherjee) was like, ‘Eta kichui hoyeni’. He did a bit of editing and now we are all set to stage
Ami O Amra. It is a short play directed by dad,” said Rwitobroto. Besides him,
Proiti Sil Acharya
, daughter of
Srikanta Acharya
penned the lyrics and
Bihu Mukherjee
, son of
Kharaj Mukherjee, composed the music for the play. “There will be live music and all. It’s going to be fun,” he added.
Along with Shantilal’s
Ami O Amra, the group will also stage another short play
Khacha. Based on Campton’s Cagebirds, this play is directed by Chandan Sen.
