A flurry of activity will mark the start of tourism day on Saturday (27th September), as the American center of the the United States embassy, Delhi is organizing a seminar and a three-day film festival on the occasion. The event, organised in association with Cinedarbaar, this year will have West as the main theme. While a change in the idea/theme this year will infuse new ingredients to the fest, the organisers have also tailored it in such a way that everyone enjoys it thoroughly.
The seminar on the first day will give an insight of the visa process and answering the general queries of the public.
The opening film of the festival is High Noon by Fred Zinnemann, which stars Gary Cooper, Grace Kelly and Thomas Mitchell. A special talk show will be the highlight of the event where Kumar Unnayan (cinema enthusiast) will talk in detail about the movie's impact on American cinema and culture.
Apart from High Noon, The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid are some films which will feature in the function.
Various topics like introduction to Western genre and its history, cinematography and technical details, key auteurs and actors contributing to the evolution of the genre etc will come up for discussion as per the event itinerary. Also, the center has planned to have a quiz and the winners will get several prizes. To make event lively and soothing, there's a music corner too which will have a great collection of western music.
