Ashley Judd talks about her film ‘Heat’
During her latest interview with Vulture, the actress revealed that for the holiday season, she and her husband were watching some of the old classic films. One of these films was ' Hear', which is perhaps one of her popular films to date.
The actress shared her thoughts on how the portrayal of women has changed over the years in cinema, and while the context matters, she felt that the way women were depicted in her film was not accurate.
“Today, when people say, ‘Kiss the Girls is my favorite movie,’ I’m like, ‘Let’s talk about that,’ because male sexual violence and male torture of women is not entertainment, and that’s what that movie is about,” the actress shared.
She also further added that she often looks at all of her past films through this lens and criticizes what could have been changed at the time. She further concluded that “And I’m glad, still, that I was a part of this movie, and I do think it’s iconic. It’s a reflection of reality, and reality is problematic.”
