Charlize Theron has been confirmed as the latest addition to
Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project with Universal Pictures. This marks the first time the Oscar-winning actress and the acclaimed filmmaker will work together.
Theron is joining an ensemble cast packed with Hollywood heavyweights, including
Matt Damon,
Tom Holland,
Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson. However, details about the film's plot remain a closely guarded secret.

Universal has not commented on the news, but the studio is preparing for production to begin in the first half of 2025. The film is set to release on July 17, 2026, with a special rollout planned for IMAX theaters, continuing Nolan’s tradition of immersive filmmaking following the success of Oppenheimer.
Although this is Theron’s first collaboration with Nolan, she has had a strong relationship with Universal, starring in projects like Atomic Blonde, the Snow White and the Huntsman series, and as the villain Cipher in the Fast and Furious franchise, including 2023’s Fast X.
Theron’s career spans a wide range of critically acclaimed roles. She won an Academy Award for her performance in Monster and earned Oscar nominations for Bombshell and North Country. Fans also know her as Furiosa in the iconic Mad Max: Fury Road.
The South African actress is currently working on several projects, including a sequel to Netflix’s The Old Guard, the thriller Apex, and the heist movie Two for the Money for Apple.
