Christian Bale brings the Biblical character of Moses alive in 'Exodus: Gods And Kings'. The Joel Edgerton, Aaron Paul, Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley-starrer releases in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, and will hit Indian screens one week prior to its US release. As the 20th Century Fox film is set to release in 3D, 4DX and IMAX, Bale talks about his journey as Moses.
Excerpts:
Apparently, when Ridley Scott offered you the role of Moses, you initially said no. Why? It’s such a big character. So you doubt yourself, thinking there is no way I can play such a character. But Rid can be very convincing.
ALSO READ: Over 1500 vfx shots used to build the world of Moses in Exodus: Gods And KingsYou stated earlier that Moses was a temperamental person. Weren’t you worried that your statement would have a strong reaction? No. This was what I had been told by Rabbi and other Biblical scholars. Moses was a very complex character. He had a contradictory relationship with God where he would argue with God and yet, listen to His voice.
What have you learnt from this film? The Israelites faced a very violent time. And Moses taught how to live life in a civilised way in the midst of great violence.
When can we hope to see you in India? We had shot a small portion of The Dark Knight Rises in India. The temperature was 50 degrees, but I enjoyed my time there. I grew up in England, in the midst of Indian food like samosa. I love Indian food.
