Game of Thrones’ still to date remains one of her mpst popular and iconic ones. While the actress is grateful for all the show has done for her, in a recent interview, she opened up about how she used to feel trapped because of the show’s success.
Emilia Clarke opens up on feeling trapped because of ‘GoT’ success
The actress expressed that while she is grateful for the show, there were times when she felt trapped under its success. The ‘GoT’ universe continues to expand and currently has multiple spin offs in production and available online for streaming.
The actress said in an interview with Variety, "I have gone through every circuitous route to get to the place that I am now, which is finally being able to be very grateful for everything that ‘Game of Thrones’ did and has given me. I no longer feel trapped in it, or trapped in the result of being in it”. Clarke no longer feels trapped under the show, and has come to terms with it. “I feel just really lucky that it happened to me, even luckier that I’ve had time to understand what that was, and now I feel firmly on the other side,” she further added.
As to why she felt that way, Clarke mentioned that she was unable to enjoy the show for a long time. She also shared that creatively she was unable to add anything to the show as well.
"Aside from what I brought as an actor, I didn’t have any creative input, nor did I want any”.
Emilia Clarke has not watched any of the ‘GoT’ spin offs
During the interview, she also confessed that She has not been able to watch any of the spin offs of her hit show. She added that it would have felt too weird or strange for her to watch the shows, though she still extended her support to all of the actors who are part of the projects. She further concluded that "It's too weird. I'm so happy it's happening. I'm over the moon about all the awards ... I just can't do it. It's so weird. It's so strange”.
