Ex-Wife Kathryn strangles Cameron’s Oscar bid
One of Hollywood’s biggest directors, James Cameron, and his mega blockbuster sci fi epic, Avatar, lost out the Best Picture and Best Director Oscar to ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow’s Iraq war drama, The Hurt Locker.
The film won six Oscars in total and created history for Kathryn Bigelow, who’s become the first woman to win the Best Director prize in the Oscars’ 82-year history. Bigelow called the victory “the moment of a lifetime.” She also happens to be Cameron’s ex-wife.
1x1 polls
Cameron had said before the ceremony that he wanted her to beat him. “It’d be really cool to lose to her. So far, she hasn’t had the accolades she deserves. I hope she gets it,” a daily had quoted Cameron. Prophetic, indeed!
